Strength of Character Leads the Way
Your Commitment for the Next 50 Years for Eta Kappa

House Corporation and the Chapter

Our future requires your support. Remember the benefits that Eta Kappa Chapter provided you and how it enriched your life. We want to ensure those benefits continue for our future brothers.

The House Corporation is responsible for operating the Chapter House in cooperation with our active chapter residents. Our House Corporation pays its expenses from lease payment revenue and from alumni supported reserve funds generated each academic year.

Our chapter house at 832 S. Kimbrough Ave. is clearly the focus of undergraduate life for Eta Kappa. It is the new home away from home for what will be hundreds of young men in addition to being a classroom where our brothers learn to be principle-driven men. If we wish for Eta Kappa to develop a strong presence and leadership at Missouri State, we must maintain our premiere housing facility by financially supporting mortgage debt reduction and establishing a reserve fund for future maintenance and repairs. Now is the opportune time to secure our prominence for the next 50 years by helping support our first in class Chapter House.

The Sigma Chi House Corporation of Springfield, Missouri was established in 1968. This Missouri Benevolent Corporation, owns and manages real estate property for the benefit of Eta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi.

Board of Directors for the House Corporation are Arch Watson, Chuck Champion, Jim Griggs, Pat Barr and Steve Nieman.

Our House Corp has been recognized by Sigma Chi as a Gold Outstanding House Corporation for six years running. Thank you, to these alumni brothers and all of our alumni volunteers across the four primary support organizations for their time and financial commitment to ensure a brighter future for Eta Kappa Chapter.

 House Corporation and Financial Support

Our House Corporation pays its expenses from lease payment revenue combined with contributions from alumni and friends.

Prior to starting construction, costs for our new chapter house increased by nearly 30% from estimates prepared in 2020. We delayed construction one year in hopes of seeing costs for materials and labor stabilize only to find that they settled at a new normal of $250 per square foot!.

Our Capital Campaign goal of $1.5M was nearly achieved with 95 donors pledging $1.4M toward the Project.

In addition to using these pledged donations for down payment to Arvest Bank for our new mortgage, we also prepaid all architectural and engineering fees for construction and paid off previous mortgage balances for the ½ acre project site.

The House Corp is also paying for furnishing the apartments and first floor common area TV monitors, internet connections, security surveillance and interior signage as an expensed item, not included in our mortgage.

To cover expenses for 22 residents, the House Corp requires continued financial support from alumni.

We encourage alumni to register your contact information here and set up a recurring monthly donation in support of the House Corporation. If you prefer to mail your donation, please make the check payable to Sigma Chi House Corp SPG MO and mail to P.O. Box 7291, Overland Park, KS 66207.
